The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system recently signed a licensing agreement with Augusoft, Inc., a Minneapolis-based software developer, to provide online registration for career training courses at all 32 institutions by December 2011.

“We want to make registering for these courses as simple and easy as possible,” said Richard Tvedten, system director for customized training. “Once online registration is fully up and running, the 164,000 employees and 6,000 or so employers who enroll in our customized and continuing education programs each year will benefit from a more efficient process.”

Five Twin Cities area colleges currently offer online registration for career training courses using Augusoft Lumens. They are: Century College in White Bear Lake, Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Normandale Community College in Bloomington, North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park and Saint Paul College. A second group of institutions will begin offering the service by January, and the remaining colleges and universities will provide this service by December 2011, under the agreement. Online registration for credit courses has been available at all system institutions for some years now.

The state colleges and universities offer an array of training programs to prepare and help maintain a qualified workforce, increase employee productivity and support new business growth. Topics range from general business skills, such as sales, cultural diversity, customer service and project management, to industry-specific training in computer and information technology, health care, manufacturing, trades and industry, transportation and more. These courses help employees or individuals meet certification or recertification requirements and gain new skills for advancement. Online registration for many noncredit courses also is available to the general public.
