ST. PAUL, Minn., May 8, 2020I wish to publicly express my disappointment in the recent changes to the Title IX regulations by the U.S. Department of Education. The changes undermine our determination to continuously make our campuses safer, more welcoming, and more supportive for all – students, faculty, and staff alike.

At Minnesota State, we believe in the clear and powerful language of Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, which declares: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

I know that I don’t stand alone in my disappointment and Minnesota State will continue to work to advocate for reasonable policies that ensure safety and inclusivity for all our campus communities.
