Joy Bodin Named President of Hennepin Technical College

ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 25, 2023 – The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named Joy Bodin to serve as president of Hennepin Technical College. Bodin has been serving as interim president of Hennepin Technical College since June, 2022. Her appointment as permanent president of Hennepin Technical College becomes effective immediately.

Joy Bodin, interim president“As interim president, Joy has earned the trust of internal and external stakeholders,” said Devinder Malhotra, chancellor of Minnesota State. “She has been very effective in engaging  stakeholders around a forward-looking strategic vision, as well as positioning the college to serve the students in the most effective manner. This is Joy’s second stint at Hennepin Technical College and her leadership skills, expertise, and experience are well aligned to the needs of the college.”

Prior to her appointment as interim president of Hennepin Technical College, Bodin served as vice president of academic and student affairs of Central Lakes College, a member of Minnesota State with campuses in Brainerd and Staples, Minnesota from 2017 to 2022. In this capacity, her responsibilities included providing leadership and vision in all areas of academic affairs, student affairs, information technology, and institutional effectiveness. Her many accomplishments include leading efforts to develop new technical programs and transfer pathways, leading initiatives around student success to break down barriers for all students, and promoting a culture of caring by building relationships throughout campus. Previously, she served Hennepin Technical College from 1992 to 2017 in several capacities including director of marketing and admissions, dean of industry, interim dean of students, and most recently as academic dean. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University and a master’s from Capella University.
