ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 28, 2023 – October is Minnesota State Month, and the 26 colleges and seven universities of Minnesota State are offering students many ways to save on their higher education experience.
One way to save during Minnesota State Month: the colleges and universities of Minnesota State are waiving the fee students normally pay when applying for admission. This makes October a great time for students to plan their educational experience, take advantage of visit and tour events, and apply for admission.
In addition, students can also take advantage of significant savings on tuition and fees. Undergraduate tuition at the colleges and universities of Minnesota State has been frozen at 2022 levels until Spring 2025. Next Fall, students from families with annual incomes of less than $80,000 may qualify for the North Star Promise Scholarship, a program that provides free tuition for eligible students.
Students can also save by taking advantage of the many scholarship opportunities available at their Minnesota State colleges and universities, such as Workforce Development Scholarships that encourage students to enter programs in high demand by employers. Some of the many fields that qualify for these annual $2,500 scholarships include education, public safety, construction, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, health care, information technology, and transportation.
“The colleges and universities of Minnesota State are always the most affordable, most accessible higher education options in Minnesota,” said Scott Olson, chancellor of Minnesota State. “But these programs, made possible by investments in the state’s future workforce by the legislature and Governor Walz, offer students the opportunity for an extraordinary education while avoiding or limiting student debt.”
