Welcome to Career and Technical Education (CTE) at Minnesota State. We partner closely with the Office of College and Career Success at the Minnesota Department of Education to prepare students to enter high skill, high wage or high demand employment in Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Board of Trustees is the sole state agency authorized to receive and disburse the Carl D. Perkins federal funds and to supervise the administration of the state career and technical education (CTE) program through Minnesota State under a state plan developed jointly with the Minnesota Department of Education pursuant to Minnesota Statute § 136F.79 and the Carl D. Perkins Career & Technical Education Act of 2006 (P.L. 109-270).

Competitve Grant RFP: Concurrent Enrollment Grant Program

The Office of Higher Education administers the Concurrent Enrollment Grant Program for development of new concurrent enrollment courses and expansion of existing concurrent programs. Concurrent enrollment courses are college courses taught in high school by qualified high school teachers during the regular school day and offered through a partnership between a high school and a college or university. We Launched a Joint CTE Vision with Minnesota Department of Education

We launched a joint vision, mission, principles, and strategic directions to guide our collective work under the reauthorized Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) with our CTE partner, the Minnesota Department of Education.

Making Good on the Promise: Understanding the Equity Challenge in CTE

This is the first brief in the Making Good on the Promise series, which examines equity in CTE. The brief attempts to confront the negative aspects of CTE’s legacy and define the key challenges learners face today. It draws on research and historical data to paint a picture of CTE’s conflicted history and the opportunity it can provide.
